Can I use my NDIS funds to pay for counselling with you?

Do you want help to better deal with your emotions or a difficult situation? Or maybe you want help to improve your relationships and social skills?
Yes? Great. Next question:

Does your NDIS plan include Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living?
Yes? Great. Next question:

Are you self-managed or plan-managed?
Yes? Perfect. You can use your NDIS funds to pay for counselling with me.

Are you agency-managed (NDIA-managed)?
Yes? Then no, you cannot use your NDIS funds to pay for counselling with me. That’s because I’m not a registered provider. Ask your support coordinator to help you find a registered provider.

The process

If you’re self-managed

  • Check that your plan includes Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living

  • Check if there are any limits on how much you can spend on counselling. Make sure that you have sufficient funds for counselling ($220 per session).

  • Book an appointment with me

  • You’ll pay $220 up front, and then claim a full reimbursement via the NDIS portal

If you’re plan-managed

  • Email me your plan-manager’s contact details. I’ll contact them to check that they’ll pay for counselling

  • After I’ve got the go-ahead from your plan manager, I’ll contact you to make an appointment with me

  • You won’t need to pay anything. I’ll send an invoice to your plan manager

What therapy looks like

My general orientation is Gestalt psychotherapy, and I teach the ACT model.

Sessions are 50 minutes.
In person at my Byron Bay practice or by video link.

How many sessions will I need? How often will I need to go?
Good questions. I answer them here.
