How I can help

If you’ve suffered a physical injury

I can teach you how to deal with the emotional pain and stress that the injury is causing. Right now, the injury might be running your life. I can help you to turn that around so that you start to get back in control of your life.

If you’ve suffered an emotional injury

Bullying. Harassment. Stress. It’s ground you down and now you’re not functioning like your usual self. Counselling can help you to make sense of what was done to you, work through the emotional damage, and get back to doing the things you used to do.

What to expect

I’ll work with you the same as I work with every other client. One-on-one. In a collaborative, reflective, practical way.

WorkCover pays for the sessions, but I work with you, not for WorkCover

How does that work, exactly?
Well, I won’t ever push you to do anything you don’t want to do.
And I report back honestly to WorkCover about how you’re doing and what support you need.

How many sessions? How often?

WorkCover usually approves 8 sessions in the first instance.

Sessions are 50 minutes. Either in person at my practice at Byron Bay, or via video-link.

There’s room for negotiation, but the usual routine is: You see me once a week for four weeks, then once a fortnight for two months. At the end of that 3-month period, we review whether or not you need and would like to do more sessions.

It’s WorkCover, so of course there’s some paperwork

There’s a WorkCover form I’ll need to fill out with you in the first session. Depending on the nature of your injury, there’ll be one or two questionnaires to do.

The process

If you’ve lodged a WorkCover claim

When you're discussing your Return To Work Plan with your GP, ask your GP to refer to me for psychological support.

If you haven’t lodged a WorkCover claim

Talk to your GP and your employer about your injury. Ask them about lodging a WorkCover claim.
